Merry Christmas

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from everlasting. (Micah 5:2)

“In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:1-7)

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel (literally, “God-with-us” in Hebrew). (Isaiah 7:14)

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:8-11)

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:6-7)

Still the Reason for the Season – MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

(if I can still say that without being reported on DHS’s new PatriotApp…!)

  3. Hello Randall,
As someone always interested in theological debate and respectful of your knowledge of scripture, I find it confusing that there are very few forums whereby two individuals can get together, albeit of differing opinions, and discuss such matters in a manner that lay people are able to understand. This site, operated by Truelogic, is a forum which accepts opinion, as to all things religious, and makes no bones about attempting to prove that the Bible, in and of itself, is the basis for atheism. He tends to ramble on, as do you, but were the two of you to engage in ‘concise’ dialogue, meaning, not boring the readers at length, there’s an audience willing to tune in.
    Regards.

  4. Merry Christmas! Funny that you headed your post with that quote from Micah, as at our church Sunday, Jimmy DeYoung used that particular passage to help explain the importance of the angel’s description to the shepherds out in the fields. Exceedingly cool stuff! Wishing the best for your ministry and hoping that 2011 blesses you and allaboutgod.com!
